Creating A Moving Plan

Creating A Moving Plan

When I started thinking about our upcoming move, I realized that I needed to create a plan so that everything went okay. I started working with my family members to evaluate our needs and the things we needed to do, and they were really awesome to work with. We did a lot of research regarding our new city, and we were even able to get our utilities set up before we moved in. This blog is all about creating a rock-solid moving plan and knowing how to avoid problems long-term. You never know, these posts might help you to make your life easier.

Using Your Self-Storage Unit For Crafting: Four Organizational Ideas To Consider

A self-storage unit can make a great crafting workshop, or it can be used to store all of your crafting supplies if you are short on room in your home. The key to using the unit for either of these purposes is to have everything organized neatly. Use this guide to keep your crafting storage space or workshop neat and tidy.

Fishing Tackle Boxes

Fishing tackle boxes are ideal for storing small items, such as beads, hardware, or jewelry parts. They come with many compartments to keep the items organized by size or shape, and they are conveniently portable. This makes it easy to remove any supplies when you need them, and the lids close securely for when the boxes are in the storage facility. Be sure to label each tackle box in the storage unit for easy identification, and place them on a freestanding bookshelf to keep them easily accessible.

Wardrobe Boxes

Wardrobe boxes are a type of specialty moving box typically used to transport hanging clothing. They have dowel rods inside to accommodate hangers, and the boxes close to keep dirt and dust away from the items stored inside. You can use these boxes to hang bolts of fabric or finished projects, such as quilts. The boxes can also accommodate closet organizers, such as hanging shoe racks, which can be used to organize a host of crafting supplies.

Office Mailboxes

Office mailboxes are designed to hold legal- or letter-sized paper, and they can typically be stacked to create as much storage space as you need. The open slots provide easy access to the items stored in each mailbox, and the entire unit can be covered with a canvas tarp when you aren't in your storage unit. Use this system to organize craft paper, wrapping paper, packages of markers, or even yarn. This storage tool can also be used to organize completed projects.

Pegboards

Your self-storage facility may not let you attach shelving or other types of organizational tools to the walls in your storage unit, but you can use pegboards to organize items without attaching them to your walls. If you are using freestanding bookshelves, simply attach the pegboards to the back of the shelving systems. Once in place, they can be used to organize tools, such as scissors and tape. You can also hang small wire baskets on the pegboard for additional storage.

Don't be afraid to get creative with storage solutions for your crafting workshop/storage area. You can turn these tools into crafting projects as well, so let your artistic side show by painting the pegboards or boxes to make your storage space uniquely yours.
